Commonly referred to as the "Academy Awards" of the federal IT community, the Federal 100 Awards Gala— an elegant, black tie event that attracts thousands of attendees— has two primary objectives: to recognize the unsung heroes in government and industry serving government; and to provide federal and industry executives an opportunity to gather as a community. WardsAuto/Penton Media – Ward’s 10 Best Engines
On January 11, 2012, WardsAuto held its largest and most elaborate 10 Best Engines award program to date, as the event packed a ballroom at the Detroit Renaissance Marriott hotel. Wards 10 Best Engines remains North America’s only award program honoring powertrain excellence, and automaker professionals have come to view it as the Oscars for their field. In addition to honoring the winners, the 2012 luncheon featured a video presentation that explained Wards’ evaluation process and highlighted each of the winners.

Forbes – The Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy
In June 2012, Forbes Editor Randall Lane invited the 400 richest Americans to the “Forbes 400 Summit on Philanthropy,” an event that brought together billionaires and near-billionaires—from Warren Buffett and Bill and Melinda Gates to Oprah Winfrey and Jon Bon Jovi. The exchange, which focused on greater collaboration and sharing best practices, helped advance the conversation around philanthropy as the participants discussed how to use their collective wealth, contacts and business skills to give smarter.

Cosmopolitan – Maybelline New York presents Cosmopolitan Kisses for the Troops
On November 12, Cosmo and Maybelline New York took over Father Duffy Square in Times Square and set-up a tent to collect kisses—kisses for the troops, that is. During this event—and as part of their overall and innovative campaign—Cosmo and Maybelline New York asked consumers to kiss a postcard with their favorite Maybelline New York lip color and write a message of thanks to the troops. For every "kiss" collected, Cosmo and Maybelline New York donate $1 to the USO, and at the end of the program, all the postcards are delivered in care packages to troops serving overseas.

Playboy – Playboy and HBO’s True Blood “Raise the Stakes” in San Diego
Playboy has a long history of throwing the most legendary parties in the world. With that said, the iconic men’s magazine decided to put its stake in the ground at Comic Con, the largest pop-culture convention in North America, to create an immersive entertainment and brand experience unlike any other. By partnering with HBO and its wildly successful franchise True Blood, the synergy was clear in creating a stylish and provocative event that was not only a huge press platform for both brands, but also a seductive playground for the biggest names in entertainment, media moguls and Hollywood power brokers.

American Express Publishing – 30th Anniversary FOOD & WINE Classic in Aspen
The Food & Wine Classic in Aspen is a stellar culinary event, consisting of three days of cooking demonstrations, wine tastings and panel discussions by world-class chefs and wine experts. Year after year, noteworthy talent includes experts such as Mario Batali, Gail Simmons and Joshua Wesson. The event—held June 15-17 last year— has over 15 sponsors and nearly 300 exhibitors who display and sample their products in the Grand Tasting Pavilion—which features wineries, food purveyors, spirits brands, restaurants, culinary destinations and other lifestyle brands—to all 5,000 attendees.

Cygnus Business Media – Firehouse World
The goal of Firehouse World 2012—held February 19-23 in San Diego— was to provide a “wow” customer experience to separates the show from that of any other fire-service event in 2012. The event—which promotes the latest in training, equipment, education and covers the latest events and lessons learned to improve the safety and effectiveness of the fire-service—was a smashing success as it was standing room only until closing time.

Source Interlink Companies, Inc. – Orange County International Auto Show
The Orange County International Auto Show, held at the Anaheim Convention Center, gives participants the opportunity to experience the latest advancements in automotive features and technology from the world’s leading car brands. As one of the first auto shows of the model season, participants were given the opportunity to view vehicles that hadn’t yet hit mass market dealer showrooms; and more than 100 vehicles were available for outdoor test drives.

Automotive News – Best Dealerships To Work For
Automotive News developed the 100 Best Dealerships to Work For program to identify and recognize car dealerships in the U.S. and Canada that have excelled in creating a quality workplace. The culmination of the program came in October 2012, when an astonishing 89 of the top 100 dealers gathered with members of their staff and others in the auto industry for a day of networking and learning, followed by a gala celebration at the Ritz Carlton in Chicago, where they received their awards and learned their order in the rankings.

MAKE Magazine – Hardware Innovation Workshop
Make magazine presented its premiere Make Hardware Innovation Workshop, May 15-16, 2012, hosting over 200 members of the maker community, venture investors, technology leaders and academicians at the historic PARC facility in Palo Alto. The program featured over 30 speakers, a veritable who’s who at the forefront of the maker movement, and hosted 25 startups in its Innovation Showcase of new open source hardware product and project demonstrations.

Condé Nast – Teen Vogue’s First Ever Back-to-School Saturday Event
Teen Vogue’s Back-to-School Saturday Event was the "wow" moment of a multi-platform program, and allowed Teen Vogue to solidify Aug. 11, 2012 as Back-to-School Saturday. The event helped raise awareness, excitement and tangibility for the Back-to-School Saturday initiative and helped create the momentum and visibility needed to achieve Teen Vogue’s ultimate goal—to create a national holiday during the back-to-school season, similar to Black Friday or Cyber Monday. The event also sought to further drive shopping excitement for the season with a live fashion show, styled by Teen Vogue, showcasing fall’s must-have trends and featuring Teen Vogue advertiser product and where-to-buy information.

Women’s Health Magazine – RUN 10 FEED 10
In collaboration with the Feed Foundation, an organization founded by philanthropist and social entrepreneur Lauren Bush Lauren, Women’s Health launched a new way for runners to make a difference. Dubbed RUN 10 FEED 10, the new signature national marketing platform aimed to motivate the brand’s 15+ million readers and consumers nationwide to help fight domestic hunger through a unique initiative. All who registered to run a 10K race in September and October in one of 11 markets instantly provided 10 meals for people in need within their community.

Cygnus Business Media – EMS World Expo
Put on by the Cygnus Public Safety Group, EMS World Expo is the largest gathering of emergency medical services professionals in North America. The event features an educational conference, exhibit floor and many networking opportunities. In October 2012, the EMS World Expo returned to New Orleans after a 7-year hiatus. Attendees were thrilled to be back in the Big Easy, and the show floor opened in style with a grand Mardi Gras parade.

For "American Made," the Martha Stewart team transformed Grand Central Terminal’s Vanderbilt Hall into a lively, interactive artisanal fair that embodied the creative spirit and style of the Martha Stewart Living brand. As part of the two-day event, Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia recognized 11 up-and-coming, small, creative businesses that are changing the face of food, design, crafts, gardening, community, technology, and other content areas celebrated in the pages of Martha Stewart Living. Ten were selected by the editors of Martha Stewart Living, the Audience Choice Award winner was selected by the public, through a nominating and voting process.

Sunset Magazine – Savor the Central Coast
From September 27-30, 2012, Sunset hosted the third annual Sunset Savor the Central Coast in beautiful San Luis Obispo County, CA. Renowned celebrity chefs and some of the best restaurateurs, winemakers and artisanal food producers in the region came together to treat loyal Sunset fans to a four-day culinary exploration. The event offered consumers a richly-layered and authentic experience where they could taste more than 200 wines, indulge in locally inspired culinary bites, meet local farmers and winemakers, tour the Central Coast Pavilion and learn from Sunset Magazine’s expert editors.

Best Series of Events

Men’s Health – Urbanathlon & Festival
The 7th annual Men’s Health Urbanathlon & Festival was a three-city event series comprised of 9.5- to-11 mile endurance races that incorporate city landmarks and urban obstacle courses set on the streets of three of the largest cities in the U.S.: Chicago, New York, and San Francisco. Men’s Health created the event in order to challenge readers—or more accurately, flat-out dare them—to set new personal standards for what it means to be fit. That is, to become Urbanathletes. And in 2012, more than 10,000 people did just that!
